My New Business!
I was really needing something to do because all my friends are you guys and you are all so far away from here. My mom thought that I might like making some earrings and bought me the stuff. I made so many so fast that I needed something to do with them and I got the idea to sell them. I have gone twice to this place called Farmers Market and another tourist spot on Alii Drive on the other side of the island.
I have sold five pairs so far. I have to work on my sign a bit more and figure out a way to display them so they don't fall off, but I'll figure it out. I named my business Eleni's Gemi's. I put little gemstones for the dots on the two "i's" in the name. It looks pretty cool.
Our Home in Hilo
So this is the house we live in and the street it is on. It is a big, very old plantation style house. They call it that because it is the kind of house that the sugar plantation owners and mangers used to build and live in.
Hilo rains a lot all year. It is strange because it isn't cold, or even cloudy all day, but usually everyday, it rains for awhile. Mostly at night, and sometimes in the afternoon. The reason I am telling you this is because of the porch on our house. It is huge. People spend a lot of time outside and these really big covered porches are great cause of all the rain that is coming down around here.
The two windows on the second floor is where my and Chloe's bedroom is. We can see the bay from them which is about two blocks east or from the picture - on Chloe's side.
Great Water ! ! !
The Best thing about being in Hawaii is the water!
I love the to be the water! I love to jump off things into the water, snorkel with the fish, and I love to be on a board paddling or riding a wave in the water!
A totally fun thing to do in Hilo is jump off the old tower on Coconut Island. There is a walk bridge that takes you out to it and a bunch of little beaches to swim at once you get over there. The thing I like to do ( and most everybody else) is jump from this old stone tower! It is about about 13 ft high and no big deal to jump from ( now), but I love doing it.
The other picture is me with my moms friend Herb. he is a lifeguard here and teaches people how to paddle board. It is just like surfing, but you use a paddle instead of your arms to move and navigate around. Check this link out to see how cool these guys are:

Starting School ( you can't escape it).
After a lot of vacation time, I had to go to school. My mom was maybe going to home school me, but her friend is a teacher at a charter school here in Hilo and they had a spot (just for me) and my mom said: I was so lucky!
Okay, I am not sure about that, because I really miss Gold trail and my class, but there was one really nice surprise about this school. Connection Community Charter School only has a four day week! Yep, thats right. Monday - Thursday! I don't know why, but I like that a lot.
The school is in an official historic building that also has an old movie theater in it ( movies are only $1.00) and has four floors that look out over Hilo bay. And although Hilo is not a big city, my school is considered urban because it is downtown. Which is another kind of cool thing because I can walk or ride my bike there from the house we are renting, which you guys know we can't do at home.
I guess it is not bad. My mom says its kind of hippie groovy. In the morning before school starts, we do this Hawaiian chant, then say something that says some stuff like... I pledge allegiance to the Planet Earth and all of life upon it... and then, an affirmation that says...I am a unique person, I am patient, understanding and smart....you get the idea right :) Then, finally, school starts, and really, it is about the same...except for the math. They do some European style of math and I am a learning how to do it.
Arriving In Hawaii!
Well, I finally am putting some things on my blog! I have been so busy with my family, we just got internet and our laptop set up up at our house.
My first days in Hawaii were really great. The air was warm and thick and smelled really pretty like flowers. On the way from the airport, we stopped and went swimming in Kailua, where my Uncle lives. The water was so clear and blue it looked like a swimming pool.
Over the next few weeks, we went hiking, surfing and snorkeling. I got too much sun and had to stay inside for a of day and take a break. The snorkeling is very cool. I had some frozen peas and the fish just came and ate them right out my hand. My sister Chloe', gets creeped out when the fish get too close and took off, but I loved it.
One day I was in this tide pool near down the road from my house and this gigantic turtle was in it with me. My brother and I fed it some grass and followed it around for awhile. We could not touch it though. They are an endangered species an there is a five hundred dollar fine for just touching one. If you hurt one, you can go to jail.
The other fun thing I have been doing is body boarding. I"m not really good at it, but my mom is and she is teaching me. I have gotten totally wiped out by the waves. A few have taken me right over the falls where basically I do a somersault and get held under for a little while. It sounds not so great, but I really love it.
Surfing is way harder for me, but I try with my Uncle. He is really good and takes me out on this really soft long board, but believe me, that wipe out is way worse than body bordering!
